The state Department of Labor has recovered more than $63 million in stolen wages in the two years since the agency heightened efforts to combat wage theft, the governor’s office announced Monday.
Since the Department of Labor’s Division of Worker Protection launched initiatives in July 2022 to clamp down on wage theft, $63.5 million in wages and damages has been recouped on behalf of 65,000 workers. As part of its efforts, the state launched a wage-theft hotline and established an online wage theft reporting system to make it easier for workers to report stolen wages.
