Only a short time into the gubernatorial primary season, I already find myself weary of the ubiquitous campaign ads. One constant theme coming from those who wish to replace Governor Hochul is a call to end cashless bail. Each hopeful posits that the solution to rising crime is repealing the 2019 law that waived bail for low level, non-violent crimes. This theory has been echoed by law enforcement officials and even Mayor Eric Adams.
