City public-school students under 5 years old must continue wearing masks since coronavirus cases have been increasing once more thanks to the Omicron BA.2 subvariant, Mayor Adams announced April 1.
The mask mandate for students ages 2 to 4 was supposed to end April 4 if Covid cases remained low. But the mayor and public health officials determined that the city’s youngest students should continue masking because coronavirus cases were expected to continue growing across the city over the coming weeks.
