A recent letter writer critical of the Democratic Party cited crime as among the reasons he would not be voting for Kamala Harris in November (“Chicanery,” Sept. 30). The most recent available FBI statistics show it declined from 2020 to 2022. Trump certainly was not concerned with law and order on Jan. 6, 2021.
He also cites the economy and immigration. Immigrants are now making and have often made a positive contribution to this country. The groups that could have a legitimate objection to this argument are the Apaches, Comanches, Iroquois, Cheyenne and other true natives of this country. But those who illegally came to this country and slaughtered them were white Europeans. The so-called "migrant crime wave" doesn't compare to the savagery of those original migrants.
What Tom Russell, a singer-songwriter with superstar talent but not fame wrote, and sang about Mexicans in 2007 can apply to today's migrants: "Who's gonna build the wall?/Who's gonna build your wall boys?/Who's gonna mow your lawn?/Who's gonna cook your Mexican food?/When your Mexican maid is gone?/Who's gonna wax the floors tonight?/Down at the local mall?/Who's gonna wash your baby's face?/Who's gonna build your wall?"

Richard Warren, please stop watching too much CNN. Housing costs have increased due to unrestricted illegal immigration. Health costs are rising more and more because free healthcare is being provided to illegal aliens, and the cost must be covered by our tax payments. Our taxes are rising because some half-brained politicians from the Democratic Party want to invite the whole world to the US and promise them a heaven funded by us, the citizens. The Democratic Party even wants those illegal aliens to vote in local elections, which will dilute citizens’ votes and give power to illegal aliens who are citizens of another country. Most of their so-called ‘asylum’ claims are bogus; it’s all about money. If you hate yourself that much, be my guest, but do not use emotional manipulation tactics to make others feel guilty about who they are by saying that whites invaded this country. History is full of invasions; it’s part of human history. Don’t just frame it as Europeans being the only aggressors while pretending all others are innocent, peace-loving victims, because they are not and were not. It’s all about power and human nature. Also, we are not living in the 1700s. Comparing those times to our own and claiming that Europeans were savages shows ignorance of history, particularly the history of the Incas and other American tribes. They weren’t angels—educate yourself.

Practice what you preach, Justin, educate yourself. Read a book. You seem to be watching too much Fox Noise. There's too much to refute in your assessment of things for the purpose of this short post so I'll end by saying to you and others who like to ***** and complain like you're some kind of aggrieved victim, what would Jesus do?

Justin, I doubt one book is enough. I suggest you get a library card. Housing costs, healthcare costs, rising taxes (which, BTW haven't changed since Trump was president), money raising asylum schemes? Why not blame immigrants for climate change and the two astronauts stranded on the ISS?
Believe it or not, it is possible to be proud of your ancestry AND still acknowledge that some of them committed atrocities. We evolve and grow when we learn from the past, not when we try to justify it.
