Video footage of an incident implicating state correction officers in the death of an inmate earlier this month is of such a brutal nature that it could spark violence inside jails and prisons statewide, the officers' union said.
The New York State Correctional and Police Benevolent Association, which represents about 26,000 workers employees and retirees from the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision’s Security Services Unit, distanced itself from 13 officers implicated in Robert Brooks’ death following a Dec. 9 beatdown at Marcy Correctional Facility in Oneida County.
