NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital allegedly tried to delay arbitration related to safe-staffing violations at the facility by requesting a temporary restraining order, according to the New York State Nurses Association.
The union representing nurses at the Brooklyn hospital alleged that the health system attempted to obtain an injunction to block an arbitrator from hearing evidence indicating chronic understaffing at a hearing scheduled for Monday. NYSNA alleged that four units at Methodist — the labor and delivery, pediatrics, pediatric intensive care unit and neonatal ICU departments — have been persistently out of compliance with contractual staffing ratios.
