Nurse injuries and illnesses a growing problem, data shows

The number of nonfatal injuries and illnesses among private-sector nurses skyrocketed 291 percent between 2019 and 2020, according to data released May 6 by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

There were 78,740 cases of injuries and illnesses that resulted in nurses missing at least one day of work. That’s almost four times as the 20,150 cases recorded in 2019, the data indicated.
