To the editor:
Thank you, Bruce Springsteen, for your pull-no-punches attack on the most corrupt and incompetent president in American history. It was appropriate and effective for Springsteen to open his show in his British tour by correctly calling the Trump administration authoritarian, anti-civil rights, and guilty of illegally deporting law-abiding immigrants.
Springsteen said that the America he loves "is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.” How can any honest person argue with that?
He went on to accuse Trump’s gang of "abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death” and of “taking sadistic pleasure in the pain that they inflict on loyal American workers.”
At a loss for words to respond to Bruce, Trump suggested that Springsteen and Beyoncé should be investigated to see if their support of Kamala Harris represented an illegal campaign donation. Typical of Trump, he never responds to criticism in a rational, intelligent way, but looks for a way to threaten and intimidate his critics, and project his worst character flaws and dishonesty on his adversaries. He may fool many with his “art of the steal,” but it doesn’t fool intelligent and fair-minded people. His enemies, mostly the intelligent and educated, are similar to the enemies of all dictators throughout history.
Unlike many of Trump’s political critics who can be intimidated and silenced, Springsteen won’t back down or back off, and his war with Trump will probably only intensify. That’s a good thing for our nation. Others, especially celebrities, should follow Springsteen’s example.

Bruce Springsteen should retain his opinions about President Trump, which are likely to be polarizing, as they are personal and not necessarily reflective of his artistic or political views. His primary focus as an entertainer is to provide musical performances, rather than engage in political commentary. Attendees to his concerts primarily seek to enjoy his music, not his political statements.
