A Massachusetts measure initiated by Uber, Lyft, DoorDash and Instacart, which would have barred gig drivers from being classified as employees, will not be put to voters later this year.
A panel of the state’s Supreme Judicial Court found last week that the ballot measure included “at least” two distinct policy decisions, “one of which is buried in obscure language,” and therefore did not meet the requirements for voter initiatives.
