Nix the for-profit plan

To the editor:

So the MLC snuck around and now an amendment to the city’s Administrative Code that will change how health care is paid for will come up for a vote in the City Council. All municipal retirees need to contact the Council NOW. Rather than doing it this way, the MLC should sit down with all parties, especially the retirees and work this out.

The retirees have some cost-saving measures that should be discussed. I don't want to be in a Medicare Advantage plan. These are for-profit plans and many procedures need pre-approval. Also, as The New York Times recently reported, many of the insurers have been accused of fraud and overbilling. This is not the way to go.
