New Rochelle Nurses Locked Out For Walking Out, NYSNA Claims

The New York State Nurses Association Dec. 8 sounded the alarm that more than 30 nurses had been “locked out” of Montefiore New Rochelle shortly after hospital staff held a two-day strike protesting coronavirus safety and short-staffing.

Nurses at the Westchester facility walked out Dec. 1 and 2 over Montefiore’s refusal to increase  nurse-to-patient staffing ratios as a second surge of coronavirus cases hits hospitals across the state. But when they prepared to return to work Dec. 3, some were told there wasn’t enough work for them and they have not yet been scheduled to return, the union said.
