Nassau Unions Bank On Cuomo to Sign Bill Protecting ‘Steps’

Nassau County’s public-employee unions worked together to encourage the State Legislature to vote in favor of protecting members’ incomes if a state financial-control board orders another wage freeze, said Jerry Lari­cchiuta, president of the Nassau Civil Service Employees Association.

The bill would prohibit the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority from freezing step increases, or salary hikes tied to time on the job. It passed both the Assembly and the State Senate unanimously, Mr. Laricchiuta said in an interview last week.
