Murder charges have been reinstated against a former New York State Police trooper accused of ramming his cruiser against an SUV during a high-speed chase in December 2020 on the New York State Thruway, killing an 11-year-old Brooklyn girl.
In a split decision issued Thursday, an Appellate Division panel concluded the trooper, Christopher Baldner, had acted with depraved indifference when he chased after and rammed the SUV, which was occupied by a family of four, among them Monica Goods, who was thrown from the vehicle and killed.
