Nearly 11 months after negotiations began, resident physicians at Montefiore Medical Center are demanding that the hospital’s management settle a fair contract.
Members of SEIU’s Committee of Interns and Residents gathered outside of the Bronx hospital Wednesday night to urge the administration to reach a deal on their first contract. The 1,200 residents, who voted to join the union in February 2023, are fighting for raises and housing benefits, as well as the establishment of a patient-care trust fund that would be used to purchase equipment and educational materials necessary for treatment.
