Hochul signs 3 pieces of labor-supported legislation

Governor Kathy Hochul has signed into law three union-supported pieces of legislation that advocates say will protect warehouse workers from injury, support car dealerships and their workers statewide and regulate state agencies’ use of artificial intelligence. 

The governor’s endorsement of the Warehouse Worker Injury Reduction Act, which establishes ergonomic safety standards, is the second such bill sponsored by State Senator Jessica Ramos the governor has sanctioned in two years. The legislation also requires yearly evaluations of large warehouses and empowers the Department of Labor to enforce the protections.
