Gathering storm

To the editor:

The clouds of corruption hovering above City Hall have coalesced, precipitating a 57-page indictment with Mayor Eric Adams’ name on it. The indictment details criminal activity stretching back to 2014, when Adams served as Brooklyn Borough president. Of course, he is presumed innocent and the burden of proof lies with the prosecutor in a court of law. The court of public opinion is a different matter.

It is impossible to effectively lead without the public’s trust. I doubt Adams enjoys that privilege now and, in all likelihood, his political career is over.  It is incumbent on the Democratic Party to lead the call for Adams’ resignation or, if necessary, his removal.
