To the Editor: Congratulations to FDNY Chief Michael Gala (March 5 issue) for standing up to Fire Commissioner Nigro and Mayor de Blasio and their progressive ilk who are anti-standards and anti-civil service.
Chief Gala is being punished for trying to maintain hiring standards and his refusal to recant views he rightly expressed on several occasions because he knows what lowering them could do to a job he loves and has devoted decades of his life to.
