The act, signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul last month, does not guarantee fashion models timely payments or that they be copied on contracts and agreements. Earlier versions of the bill were more expansive.
Models working in New York State’s fashion industry will get long-awaited rights and safeguards, including access to deal memos and contracts outlining, in plain language, key components of their employment or engagement, according to legislation signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul Dec. 21.
