More than two dozen New York retired educators collected over $300,000 in pension benefits last year, according to data compiled by the Empire Center.
The nonpartisan think tank analyzed data reported by the two teacher pension systems, the Teachers’ Retirement System of the City of New York, which reports actual payments received by retirees, and the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System, which reports maximum allowable benefits.
