To the editor:

The DNC's theme for Monday was "For the People." Why not name it for the American People? Probably because their vague "people" reference does not constitute the meaning Abraham Lincoln conveyed in his Gettysburg Address. It's clear to whom they made their pitch (leftists). After all, the Dems’ intent is to fundamentally transform America. Socialist regimes are depressing; many of its purveyors are under the delusion that they are in control, despite incontrovertible evidence to the contrary.

The Democrat Party platform is more dim than bright; more hopeless than hopeful; more dystopian than utopian. They offer absolutely zero, other than platitudes veiling their socialist intentions.

Please remind me, is it the political left or right that is banning books, re-writing American history around slavery, dictating reproduction for women and chasing gay men and women back into the closet? Which party opposes a society with diversity, equity and inclusion and punishes businesses that support DEI?

Hopefully, Democrats will transform America. If we stay on our current path, the middle class will disappear. Low taxes on corporations, investment bankers and real estate developers has drained trillions of dollars out of the hands of workers and put it in the hands of the wealthy few. Conservative anti-worker policies like right-to-work, a poverty-level minimum wage and deregulation that allows businesses to pollute and pass on clean-up costs to taxpayers adds more to the burden carried by the working class. As does GOP opposition to public healthcare. Also, the GOP's fossil fuel only energy approach (drill baby drill) is about as sensible as bringing back whale oil to light homes.

Democrats support unions, progressive taxation, a living minimum wage, environmental protections and worker health and safety laws. If you view that as "more hopeless than hopeful" I don't know what you think government should be doing. Building a Wall isn't going to fix America's problems, fixing Wall Street would go a lot further.

You're kidding, right? It's Trump that has a dim view of America, saying we are a third world country which we are not. He never has anything positive to say. He's running a negative campaign. What are his positions? Al he talks about is culture wars and grievances. He still hasn't accepted his loss in the last presidential election. The Democrats are not Socialists, that is a talking point. Trump is a Fascist. That's the reality. He want to be a dictator. The Democrats are going to win, it will be close but they will win.
