With wildcat strikes by state prison correctional officers ongoing at prisons statewide this week, officials engaged in discussions with the union representing the COs Monday regarding a number of demands officers want met to quell what they say are unsafe working conditions in the majority of the state's 42 correctional facilities.
State officials agreed to negotiations to put an end to the walkout which according to prisoner advocates and others has compromised safety and custodial care throughout the state’s penal system.
