FDNY could get $1B for capital improvements

The FDNY would get $1 billion for “critical infrastructure and equipment needs” next fiscal year, according to a proposal released by the City Council last week. 

The Council’s proposed budget for the department, an opening salvo in negotiations between that body and Mayor Eric Adams that will likely stretch into the summer, also calls for $50 million to address pay disparities between EMS workers and other first responders.
