City Council members slammed an order issued last week by the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget for agencies to slash their budgets.
Agencies must reduce their spending by 4 percent annually in order to achieve savings for Fiscal Year 2024 as part of a “Program to Eliminate the Gap,” according to a letter sent by Budget Director Jacques Jiha to agencies last week. The Department of Education and CUNY must shrink their budgets by 3 percent.
