Council passes bill establishing exit surveys for departing city workers

Posted 9/22/23

Amid ongoing staffing shortages within the municipal workforce, the City Council passed legislation last week that would require city agencies to provide exit surveys to departing employees.

The bill, introduced by Council Member Shaun Abreu earlier this year, would require that the Department of Citywide Administrative Services create a survey and interview protocol to help gauge departing city workers’ reasons for leaving their jobs. Exiting employees will be given an electronic survey, as well as an in-person interview prior to their departures.
