The Justice Department has settled a suit with a general contractor in New York City that had repeatedly violated federal lead paint and worker safety rules. Legacy Builders, a general contractor that performed renovations at more than 100 apartments in New York between 2016 and 2020, accepted responsibility for not providing lead safety training to workers, failing to contain construction dust and not conducting post-renovation cleaning verification as part of the settlement.
The U.S Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced their suit against Legacy Builders and the consent decree that settled the suit simultaneously last Friday.
