Building cleaners and their union, 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, are continuing their fight against a cleaning contractor they say has undermined labor standards by cutting the workers’ salaries in half and eliminating benefits.
Dozens of union members rallied outside of 529 Fifth Ave. in Midtown Thursday to decry the cuts and demand that the workers' new employer, L&J Janitorial, negotiate a fair contract.
