Brooklyn Museum staffers voted to unionize in the summer of 2021. They have been in discussions on an initial contract since January. And, they say, that doesn’t add up to a pretty picture.
On the evening of Sept. 28, as the museum hosted an open house for its renovated Islamic and Asian galleries, about 65 staffers rallied on the wide plaza beside the institution’s Eastern Parkway entrance to call attention to the slow pace of negotiations. Workers were also hoping to put pressure on museum officials ahead of another round of contract talks scheduled for Sept. 30.
