Armchair warriors

To the editor:

It’s interesting to see armchair warriors flex their muscles against China in The Chief’s recent letters column. The U.S. already recognized Taiwan as a part of China with its recognized “One China Policy.” Taiwan is famous for its commercial creation of computer chips and the “democracy” in these foreign lands is as questionable as any country around the world.

Playing tough with nuclear-armed countries is not advisable. There is a long list of bogeymen that have caused the death of our soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Vietnam and other countries for the commercial interests of the empire. One tough, highly decorated Marine, Smedley Butler, said it best, “War is a racket.”

No need for armchair warriors looking to nuke us all for one interpretation of “democracy.”
