An adjunct teaching history at Barnard College will receive $7,000 per course starting in the fall. By 2021, he or she will earn $10,000 for each class. But at City College, less than a mile away, that same adjunct currently can make just $3,500 per class.
City University of New York’s largest union, the Professional Staff Congress, is advocating for adjuncts to receive $7,000 per course. At least 2,000 of the system’s 12,100 adjuncts earn their entire paycheck from CUNY, Barbara Bowen, president of PSC, noted in a phone interview.
