32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, which represents 185,000 cleaners, security guards, airport workers and property service workers is putting its weight behind a suit aiming to preserve temporary protected status for more than 200,000 Haitian immigrants.
TPS, a humanitarian measure granted by the Department of Homeland Security that allows certain groups of migrants from countries experiencing crises to legally live and work in the United States, has been extended to Haitians since the 2010 earthquake that devastated the island nation.
