Editor's note: Mr. Sharkey served as William Fraser's Confidential Aide in the Chief of Department's Office and later the Office of the Correction Commissioner. His letter had been copied to Sidney Schwartzbaum, the former president of the Assistant Deputy Wardens/Deputy Wardens Association, and he addressed some additional comments to him. They concluded, "Finally, you should be embarrassed for participating in a hit piece when Commissioner Fraser was buried. I expect no less from the likes of Richie Steier, who has turned The Chief-Leader into a Progressive rag, but you, Sid, have a sad way of showing gratitude for patching things up."
