To the Editor: Many of President Trump’s supporters have vocalized that their 2016 decision to vote for Mr. Trump was based upon his message that American security was at risk. At risk from Middle Eastern terrorists, “rapists, murderers and drug-dealers” crossing our southern border, and a weak foreign policy.
Four years later, it turns out that the real threat to American security wasn’t radical Islamic terrorists, Guatemalan MS-13 gangs or a flagging world standing; the true threat was American insecurity. An insecurity that scared just enough voters, in just the right places, to permit an incompetent, self-centered demagogue to eke out an Electoral College victory.
