To the Editor: The anti-vax/anti-mask crowd is past due for a reckoning, and if that means losing their jobs for refusing to abide by a mandate, so be it.
The narrative that their actions are an expression of "freedom" is not just false, it is dangerous. As a transportation professional, I have personally imposed hundreds, if not thousands of mandates. Every decision for a STOP and speed limit sign and traffic signal that I was a part of was a mandate made in the interest of public safety.
