To the Editor: Most people here are familiar with Tevye's dilemma in the musical "Fiddler on the Roof." When faced with difficult decisions, he'd weigh the options, thinking out loud that "on the one hand," and then "on the other hand,"
Eventually, though, he got to a point where the issue was just so out of bounds that he went from equivocating to" to "no, no, NO, there is no other hand."
