To the Editor: The biggest threat to a well-functioning democracy is misinformation. It is particularly dangerous when a false premise becomes a campaign talking point for overambitious, opportunistic politicians.
As someone who lives in upstate New York, I see a wide range of campaign ads from candidates seeking office at all levels of government. One such false premise has been common to all GOP ads. Regardless of the opponent or office being sought, the GOP candidate claims that their opponent supported "New York's dangerous bail-reform law that releases violent criminals."
