To the Editor: I doubt that online voting would have resulted in more than 30-percent participation in the Transport Workers Union Local 100 recent election. I never found voting by mail to be difficult.

The ballot was mailed to me. I followed the instructions, voted and mailed it back. Postage was always provided.

A recently departed friend who was a superb union rep would joke about ballots left on top of refrigerators. I don't believe those who were too apathetic to open envelopes would suddenly be so willing to go on a computer to vote.
