To the Editor: When Michael Hirsch (Sept. 20 letter) worked as a journalist for a major NYC union newspaper, he understood that loyalty to the leadership was key to keeping the job.
Fair enough—most of us who worked for unions accepted that requirement. So how did Mike react when a querulous, often-difficult colleague tried to form a staff union at his publication, in 2010? How did he deal with this sometimes-troublesome, errant union brother, who may have wandered off the reservation?
