Amid the tumult unloosed by the coronavirus, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Governor Cuomo have been reassuring beacons of consistency.
On May 12, less than a week after President Trump announced he would disband the White House Coronavirus Task Force, then reversed course the next day because he said he hadn't realized how popular the panel was, Dr. Fauci—its most prominent member—addressed a Senate hearing from home quarantine and calmly warned against states "reopening" before they had met the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for doing so.
