For much of Donald Trump’s presidency, he has done his best to hack away at the credibility of American institutions that proved inconvenient to him: the judiciary, Congress, law enforcement and the media.
Not only has he attacked the FBI and the CIA; he stated on national TV, with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin standing alongside him, that he couldn’t accept the conclusion of the U.S. intelligence community that Russian operatives interfered in the 2016 election when Mr. Putin was so “strong” in his denials.
