Mayor de Blasio, responding to the increasingly urgent calls by top transit officials to put more police officers into the subway system to deal with crime, told reporters May 6, "As a real New Yorker who lives in the subway, has taken the subway all my life, I wouldn't hesitate at all to take the subway."
