Suffolk County court workers defeated a proposed contract by a 5-to-1 vote after the leaders of eight court unions traveled there last week to urge them to reject it, Dennis Quirk, president of the New York State Court Officers’ Association, said last week.
The Suffolk County Court Employees Association, which represents all court-related titles, posted the results of the election on its website Aug. 22. The vote was 121 in favor of the contract to 618 against. The union’s president, Christopher J. Manning, was unavailable for comment because he was on vacation, his office said.
