Mayor de Blasio said Sept. 21 that the city does not have a hard number on how many Teachers will be needed to address staffing shortages, but the United Federation of Teachers claimed that schools still need 3,000 more instructors to conduct in-person classes.
Pre-kindergarten, 3K students and students with disabilities in District 75 began school that day. Children in K-5 and K-8 schools won’t start until Sept. 29, while middle school and high school students will begin Oct. 1, with the shortage of Teachers causing those delays.
