An arbitrator has ruled that Teachers and other staff represented by the United Federation of Teachers who were made to work during the spring break that was cancelled in 2020 will receive vacation days for each day they put in.
Before coronavirus cases forced city public schools to shut down, spring break was scheduled to run for seven school days between April 9 and 17, 2020. But after the pandemic hit, the state Education Department released guidance advising schools to continue classes even through the break.
