Although Mayor de Blasio hopes to resume in-person instruction five days a week at all schools currently offering blended-learning, Teacher shortages present a roadblock–and Department of Education officials refused to say how many more educators were needed to overcome it during a Jan. 20 City Council hearing.
Of the 878 elementary, pre-K and 3K schools that have been open since December, 247 had in-person classes five days a week for all students, while another 259 schools offered full-time in-person lessons for the majority of students, according to the DOE.
