Nine of the 10 United Parcel Service part-time workers at a Customer Service Center in Laurelton, Queens who were fired last month for leaving their jobs an hour early have returned to work, but their union and management remain at odds over whether they should be entitled to back pay for the time they missed.
Teamsters Local 804, which represents the employees, has contended that on April 13, when the employees exited their 3-to-9 a.m. shifts at roughly 8 o'clock, they were merely doing what had been customary since the longer shifts were implemented months earlier.
