The Public Employees Federation and Parole Officers say a recently enacted law that restricts the terms by which parolees would be sent back to jail for so-called “technical violations,” such as missing a scheduled meeting with their parole supervisor, represents a danger to the public.
The union and the State Parole Officers cited “serious repercussions for community safety” and respect for the crime victims as among the reasons for their continued opposition to the "Less is More" law, which Governor Hochul enacted law last month. They said they would continue to voice their misgivings and demand more-balanced parole reforms.
