Midwives from the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine working at Elmhurst Hospital say they’ve had just one pay raise during the past decade—yet Mount Sinai won’t meet with them at the bargaining table.
The midwives voted unanimously 2 1/2 years ago to join the New York State Nurses Association. But they haven’t gained a contract, with the hospital's administration unwilling to make a fair deal, according to some of the midwives at a July 28 rally.
