In a nearly unanimous vote, members of The New Yorker Union, along with those belonging to unions representing Pitchfork and Ars Technica workers, have authorized a strike if their bargaining committees call for it.
The unions and Condé Nast, the media conglomerate that owns the magazine and the two websites, have been negotiating for more than two years on a first contract, with salaries now apparently the biggest issue keeping the sides from agreement.
