An NYPD officer was arrested in the shooting death earlier this month of a West Babylon man, the office of Attorney General Letitia James said May 21.
Errick Allen, 26, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the May 12 shooting of Christopher Curro, 25, in Farmingdale.
Media reports said the rookie Police Officer and Mr. Curro were lifelong friends.
The Attorney General’s Office serves as a special prosecutor in cases of unarmed civilians killed by law enforcement. “We trust our police officers to protect the safety of New Yorkers, but instead, this individual allegedly betrayed that duty to end another man’s life,” Ms. James said in a statement.
