MTA Sticks With Test Option Rather Than Imposing Vaccine Mandate

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Oct. 28 decided against a vaccine mandate like that used by Mayor de Blasio because its Acting Chairman and CEO, Janno Lieber, said the agency’s mix of inoculation and the option of weekly testing was preferable.

“He was a total gentleman about it, and he referenced the [fire-union] rally outside Gracie Mansion and that he believed that based on our numbers, what we have been doing is working,” said Thomas DiNardo, vice-president of District Council 37’s Local 983, which represents the MTA's 40 High Pressure Plant Tenders.
